City of Evanston crews will pick up holiday trees beginning Tuesday, December 27, 2016 through Friday, January 27, 2017. The five-week window provides residents with the flexibility to take down their trees when it's convenient. Why doesn't the City of Evanston plow sidewalks and alleys? There probably isn't one answer to this question. This has been City policy for many years that pre-dates all of us currently in City management. Many of our neighbor cities, including Skokie, do plow sidewalks and alleys, while Chicago does not.
