Lorraine H. Morton, now in her fourth term, has been mayor of Evanston since 1993.

Mayor Morton was elected Mayor in 1993, and re-elected in 1997, 2001, and 2005. Earlier, she served on Evanston's City Council as Fifth Ward alderman for nine years. She began as an educator at Foster School, and continued as a middle school teacher at Nichols and Chute, and principal of Haven Middle School. Lorraine is an active and enthusiastic supporter of many organizations serving youth and has served on a variety of not-for-profit boards throughout Evanston. Her accomplishments have resulted in awards and recognition that reflect her deep commitment to our community.

Mayor Morton's tenure as Mayor has been marked by responsiveness, integrity, and care. She represents Evanstonians with civility, grace and respect at events in every corner of our town and in organizations at the regional, state, and national level. She is a strong advocate for our City at each of these levels.
