Police Officer Application
Base Salary Range: $59,822-$87,093

The City of Evanston will begin accepting applications for the entry-level Police Officer position from July 18, 2015, at 12:00AM until August 17, 2015, at 4:00PM. Interested candidates must visit http://applytoserve.com to submit their application and required documentation online. There is a $40 application fee. No applications will be accepted before July 18, 2015, 12:00AM, or after August 17, 2015, 4:00PM. Failure to submit all required documentation by the deadline will disqualify your application. Candidates who meet the minimum qualifications will be notified via email of their eligibility by August 24, 2015, and must be prepared to attend the following at Evanston Township High School, 1600 Dodge Avenue, Evanston, IL:
POWER Test: Sunday, August 30, 2015 (required)
Session #1 8:00AM-9:30AM, Session #2 10:00AM-11:30AM, Session #3 1:00PM-2:30PM
Tutorial Sessions: Sunday, August 30, 2015 (optional)
Session #1 10:00AM-12:00PM, Session #2 1:00PM-3:00PM
Written Examination: Sunday, September 13, 2015, 9:00AM-12:30PM (required)
Minimum Qualifications include:
• Valid driver’s license.
• Must be between 21 and 35 years of age as of September 12, 2015, unless exempt by state statute.
• High school diploma or GED and completion of 60 hours of college credit.
Preferred Qualifications include:
• Resident of Evanston, Illinois at the time of application.
• One year of active duty in and honorable discharge from the US Armed Forces.
• Current employment as a full-time sworn law enforcement officer.
Other required steps include an oral interview, polygraph examination, psychological evaluation, medical screening, background investigation, and final certification by the Civil Service Commission.

Human Resources is the central coordinating point for the filling of all full-time, permanent part-time, temporary, and seasonal positions. Human Resources also provides assistance and guidance to the operating departments and employees in all areas of employment including:

Chosen candidates will be required to provide proof of licenses, certifications, and education required for this position. Candidates will also be subject to qualifying pre-employment processes, including medical examination, drug/alcohol screen, employment verification, and criminal background check.
