ARTS COUNCIL COMMITTEES

Much of the important work of the Council and the successes we achieve are the result of the work that is done on the committee level. The by-laws state that every member is expected to chair or serve on at least one standing Council committee.

 

Cultural Fund: Initiates and recommends revisions and changes to grant guidelines for Council review and approval; coordinates the planning of an informational grants workshop with Staff; reviews letters of intent; facilitates panel reviews of grants and approve distribution of funds to grantees. Committee also works with Staff to determine timeline for the grants process.

 

Community Service: Reviews and approves community service guidelines; determines compliance of proposed community service projects submitted by the Noyes artists in fulfillment of their rental agreements.

 

Arts and Humanities Month: Develops concept and scope of Arts and Humanities Month, participates on the planning committee and assists in the implementation of planned activities and event promotion.

 

Arts & Business:  Establishes partnerships with the business community including the Chamber of Commerce and Evmark to promote and enhance the arts in Evanston for the mutual benefit of artists, organizations and the business environment.

 

Arts & Education: Monitors issues affecting arts education in school Districts 65 and 202 and establishes communication with department chairs and educators to provide assistance and support for arts education advocacy.

 

In addition to the established committees, the Council maintains liaisons with the following entities to share and coordinate information and resources:

 

Public Art Committee

Lakeshore Arts Festival Planning Committee

Ethnic Arts Festival Planning Committee

Noyes resident artists
