Art Under Glass Program art under glass image for Web

This program promotes local artists and enhances the aesthetics of our community by placing the work of Evanston artists in vacant storefront windows. The program was initiated by the Arts & Business Committee of the Evanston Arts Council.

The deadline for receipt of applications is Mon., Sept. 28, 2009.  We recognize that this is a short turnaround time on the application, but we are seeking to select artists who will be able to install work in early October.  Submissions will be reviewed by an independent jury and final selections will be made based on the suitability of the work for the available window spaces.

An artists reception is planned from 5-7 p.m. on Wed., Oct. 21, as part of the City of Evanston's Arts + Humanities Month celebration.  There will be additional application opportunities that will be announced at a later date.  We hope artists will take advantage of this opportunity to showcase their artwork while beautifying our downtown business district.
