The Levy Senior Center is a member of the National Council on Aging.

The Levy Senior Center was dedicated on July 21, 2002. Levy Center membership is open to adults age 55 years and older. Programs for seniors are held weekdays from 9am to 5pm. Programs for all ages are held in the evening and on the weekends.Levy Center photo at night

The Levy Senior Center's award-winning building is located in the southeast corner of James Park. Members can participate in a wide variety of programs and classes, including computer training, health and wellness classes (ranging from low-impact aerobics to Pilates); and classes in the arts such as wood working, ceramics and drama.

Membership in the new Fitness Room has proven to be a very popular option for older adults, while younger adults may purchase a Fitness Room pass valid for admission early mornings, evenings and weekends. Drop-in basketball programs also have been added to the schedule of activities for seniors.

Levy mosaic with flowers photoThe building’s architects designed the Levy Senior Center around an open courtyard in order to create a bright and close-to-nature feeling.

The Hulda B. and Maurice L. Rothschild Enabling Garden in the central courtyard (pictured at right), was made possible by a major grant from the Hulda B. and Maurice L. Rothschild Foundation. Some classes and special events are held in the courtyard, weather permitting.

The Levy Senior Center is home to the Illinois Women’s Senior Olympics Basketball Team. Congratulations to She-Ca-Go, the Levy Center’s team, for placing at the Senior Olympics in Louisville. If you are interested in playing with the team (they are looking for women age 55+ to join their team), please call the Center for more information.

Levy Senior Center members stay “in the know” by reading Levy News, which is mailed to members every other month. The newsletter includes information on trips, special events, new classes and general news. To read the current issue in .pdf form, click on the link near the top of this page.

The Evanston Children's Theatre rehearses and performs at the Levy Center. The cast generally includes children and senior adults. For more information, please contact Karen Hawk at 847.448.8250.
