The State of Illinois Food Code requires all Risk Category 1 and Category 2 facilities to employ one or more certified managers to supervise food service operations.

An online training option now available for those seeking initial certification! You can now complete the 15-hour course in the comfort and privacy of your home. The online course meets the IDPH requirements for initial certification. AND IF YOU NEED THE 5-HOUR REFRESHER and can't find a classroom option before your certificate expires, you can take the 15-hour course and use it to satisfy the continuing education requirement. Call us - 847.866.2947 - for further information. Currently, the online course is only available in English but a Spanish course is being developed.
As part of its Food Protection Program, the City of Evanston offers a 15-Hour Food Service Sanitation Manager Certification course and a 5-Hour Refresher course that is taught in a traditional classroom setting in Evanston by State of Illinois Certified Instructors. The course is usually offered twice a year.

Fee paid to the City of Evanston does not include the initial certification fee to be paid to the Illinois Department of Public Health. You will pay this fee once the State has determined that you have passed the exam with the required score. Attendees must pass the exam with a minimum score of 75% in order to be certified. |

1st and 2nd Retake Exams 2010 Class Dates Not Yet Scheduled
These retakes are only available to those who failed the exam within the 6 months prior to the retake date. People taking the exam must bring photo identification and the letter from the State that notified them of the need to retake the exam. You must register with us so we can have the correct exam available. |
